We’re looking for a Videographer / Documentarian to lead the capture, documentation, and content support for a growing agency, Opt Digital, a Wellington based marketing agency
The compensation for this role is a fixed monthly rate of $5,500–$7,000 NZD once fully ramped, with all national and international travel fully paid for, plus a monthly equipment budget to support filming and gear upkeep.
We are aiming to reach $200K USD/month in recurring revenue within the next 3 months, while continuing to onboard new clients and expand into additional ventures and personal brand projects.
We’re a digital marketing agency focused on helping local trades and service businesses grow through search and execution-focused systems.
By 2026, our goal is to become the most trusted name in Local SEO across New Zealand, the USA, and Australia — and to have the growth of the agency and related ventures fully documented through real, behind-the-scenes content.
We work with roofers, electricians, landscapers, plumbers, fencers, and other home service businesses. We help them get found on Google, generate consistent inbound leads, and scale their operations through structured SEO systems, branding, lead nurturing, automation, and execution.
Our internal team includes SEO strategists, content writers, designers, and developers. We’ve built a clear campaign and delivery model that drives measurable growth in visibility, calls, and revenue for clients.
Now, we need someone to document how this business is being built, support our YouTube-based acquisition efforts, and eventually help capture the growth of personal brand and international projects.
This is where the Videographer / Documentarian role comes into play.
What the Role EntailsDocumenting the day-to-day build of the agency — meetings, planning, execution, travel, wins, losses, and momentum as it happens
Capturing long-form YouTube content used for top-of-funnel lead acquisition
Filming short-form supporting content with continuity and story in mind
Operating independently in fast-moving, real-world environments without constant direction
Reviewing long-form and short-form edits and working with the editing team to ensure final content accurately reflects what was captured
Flagging missing context, sequencing issues, or story gaps before content is published
Transitioning after the initial months into a third phase focused on personal brand documentation and international travel projects
Skills We’re Looking For
This role is equal parts field operator, storyteller, and content-minded professional. You don’t need to be an editor or strategist, but you do need to understand how footage turns into usable content.
2+ years of real-world videography experience (non-studio, non-scripted environments)
Strong instincts for storytelling, context, and capturing moments that matter
Comfort filming both structured content and unpredictable execution
A genuine interest in content, storytelling, and building a content engine across short-form and long-form
Experience collaborating with editors and reviewing content output
Comfortable with regular travel and long, variable days when required
Highly reliable, self-directed, and disciplined — no hand-holding required
Comfortable using tools like Google Drive, ClickUp, and basic content workflows
